On April 25th, the LPA bands held their last concert of the year, ending the band season with a great performance!
The Spring Concert, an annual event, was an amazing night of joy, laughter, and music. The concert was comprised of the Middle School 6th grade Concert Band, the Middle School 7th-8th grade Concert Band, the High School Concert Band, the Middle School Percussion Band, the High School Percussion Band, the High School Jazz Band, and the Steel Drum Band.
The Middle School 7th-8th grade Concert Band played their songs “Byzantine Dances" by Carol Brittin Chambers and “Handclap" by Fitz and the Tantrums. Both songs got the audience involved, snapping fingers and clapping hands to the beat of the music. The High School Concert Band played music from modern eras, including “Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns N’ Roses and “All My Loving" by the Beatles. The adults in the audience were particularly drawn to these older songs, jamming out to the nostalgic rhythms. The High School Jazz Band played some songs that are favorites of the young audience. And the Jazz Band played some songs that touched the young and old alike. “September" by Earth, Wind, and Fire and “Africa" by Toto had everyone in the audience singing and jamming to the beats.
Each band played spectacularly, bringing a fun upbeat sound into the auditorium. Some students who performed in the concert described it as their favorite concert. The Spring Concert is considered the best in that band members have had the entire year to practice and prepare. These amazing bands and concerts would not be as breathtaking if not for the work of our outstanding band directors, Mr. Jason Albert, Chair of the Arts & Technology Department, and Mr. Matthew Karram, Director of Middle School Bands.
