On October 24th, the LPA Jazz Band, Steel Drum Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble proudly presented their Fall Concert program under the direction of Mr. Jason Albert.
The Jazz Band featured a variety of pop, traditional swing, and Latin literature including “Thriller” by Micheal Jackson, “Way to Go”, “Session Samba”, and “September”, all of which included improvised solos. The student-led Steel Drum and Percussion ensemble performed a series of lively pieces ranging from the Caribbean “Chorando Se Foi” and “Bailando La Soca”, to the iconic “Limbo Rock” and “Walk Like an Egyptian”.
Finally, the program closed with the decorated LPA Wind Ensemble’s colorful performances of “Blue Sky & Sunshine”, “An Irish Rhapsody”, “Ruckus”, and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” in preparation for their upcoming Music Performance Assessment and World Strides New York City competition.
Additionally, the high school bands also welcomed Mr. Frank Raimondi as the middle school band director. Over the course of the first quarter, the students, officers, and directors of the high school bands put in a tremendous effort to prepare and present their program and celebrated their talent and dedication for music performance through delivering an excellent and worthwhile experience for the audience.
